Death Notice

HARRIS, Arnold Wallace - Peacefully, at Victoria Hospital, L.H.S.C., on Tuesday July 12, 2011 - Professor Emeritus of Mathematics - in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Lilly Harris. Predeceased by his parents Milton and Rebecca Harris and by his brother David Harris. Survived by his sisters Marjorie (John) Heinbuch of Waterloo and Marion Oliver of Toronto. Missed by nieces and nephews: Kristen Janie Budzyn of London, Kathryn Breau and Kristeen Krestensen of Kingston and Karen Nicolson of Toronto, David (Brenda) Heinbuch of Ottawa, John Heinbuch Jr. (JoAnn) of Waterloo, and Jim (Sandra) Heinbuch of Barrie, Stephen (Jenny) Oliver of Guernsey, Philip (Mary) Oliver and Peter (Rose) Oliver of Toronto, and Susan (Jim) Godsell of Orillia. Also survived by great-nephew Michael (Danika) Budzyn of London and many other dear great nieces and nephews. Born in Adelaide Township November 22, 1918, attended the University of Western Ontario and College of Education in Toronto. Taught at Laurence Park Collegiate before joining the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Resumed teaching at Kirkland Lake and London (South and Central Collegiates), and was Vice Principal of Wheable Secondary School. Mr Harris served as Provincial Inspector of Mathematics before becoming Head of the Faculty of Mathematics at Althouse College, U.W.O. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and long time member of the Tuscan Lodge. Mr Harris was a devoted member of St Luke's Broughdale (St. Luke the Evangelist) for many years. Funeral service will be held at St Luke's (Broughdale), 1204 Richmond St. N. on Monday July 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall before interment at Woodland Cemetery, London. Donations to St. Luke's Anglican Church would be welcomed. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Windermere on the Mount retirement home and to the staff of Victoria Hospital.
