Death Notice

STENNETT, RICHARD GENE (Dick), PhD. - Peacefully at McGarrell Place on October 23, 2011 after a long illness - a kind and gentle soul. Beloved husband for 59 years to Gloria Meredith. Loving father of Melanie and Murray Cornwell, Lisa Fletcher, Daniel Bushey all of Norwich; Susan and Marc Tremblay of Nepean. Special Papa to Paul, Megan, Teresa, Ali, Sarah and Emily; Jeremy and Gillian; and Tyler. Grand Papa to Aidan, James and Isaac. Richard was born in Ridgetown, ON son of Hendrie Pomeroy (Harry) Stennett and Nettie Catherine (Nan) Delmege. Predeceased by brothers Robert, Arthur and John, sisters Joanne and Mary Catherine (Bonnie) Duvall. Survived by sister Mrs. Thomas (Pauline) Harrison of Ayr, ON, special cousin Mrs. Doris Gage of Markham and many nieces & nephews in Canada and the USA. Richard received his BA and MA (UWO) & PhD (McGill). He worked as a Clinical Psychologist at St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital; Tri-County Mental Health Center, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, ending his career as Chief of Research Services, London Board of Education. Special thanks to staff at McGarrell Place and Middlesex Terrace for their compassionate care. Visitation on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Memorial service to be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Church, London on Friday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. by The Rev. Douglas MacKenzie. Cremation has taken place. Burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. A tree will be planted in memory of Richard.
