Kelly Rowcliffe

Death Notice

ROWCLIFFE, Kelly Jane - Kelly faced her battle with cancer with the same amazing grace in which she lived her life. Though she lost her battle, she never lost the respect and admiration of the many who followed her journey of the past two years: her diagnosis in March 2010; the diagnosis of her husband Dave 6 weeks later; his death in February 2011; Kelly's strength raising her two young children alone; and her re-diagnosis in June of this year. She passed away Wednesday August 15th, 2012 at the age of 42 surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Kelly was an amazing mom to Paige and Bridget and they were her greatest source of joy. It broke Kelly's heart that she would not see her children grow up but she had peace in knowing her sister Carrie and Carrie's husband Trevor will be welcoming them into their family in Edmonton. Kelly is survived by her parents Barbara and Bob Karn of Edmonton and Dennis and Sine Pettit of London; her sister Carrie and Trevor Merrick of Edmonton and their children Josh, Kennedy and Ella; sister Brooke Pettit and brother Brett Pettit of London; her Aunt Jane Irwin of London; her Uncle Wayne and Aunt Carmen of Houston; cousin Stephanie Peters and husband Bill of New York; and her mother-in-law Doreen Rowcliffe and the Rowcliffe family. Kelly will be deeply missed by her many devoted friends, especially Lindsey Hart-Harris, Lauren Gregory and Erin Rankin Nash. She was grateful for the support of the girls' caregiver Mary Jane and for the extra assistance of Meghan. A special thanks to the London Cancer Clinic, CCAC, VON and Bayshore. Among the wonderful caregivers are: Dr. Dingle, Dr. Parent, Dr. Allen, Dr. Parry, Dr. Fleming, Marlene, Lori, PJ, Pauline, Erin, Kathleen, Vicky, Rose Marie, and Sheila. Kelly's story has been read by many in the Globe, Western News and on-line. She will continue to inspire us with the strength of her spirit. A celebration of Kelly's life will be held on Saturday August 18th at the Four Points Sheraton on Wellington Rd South, from 2-4 pm with remarks at 3:00 pm. At Kelly's request, we ask that everyone come dressed in bright colours, fancy shoes and maybe carry an awesome purse. Kelly loved all things beautiful and would thoroughly enjoy that her family and friends came together and celebrated her in this way. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Rowcliffe Family Trust c/o McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP or Breast Imaging Centre at St. Joseph's London.
