Death Notice

STOTHERS, Donald - Died suddenly at his residence on Friday, August 31, 2012 in his 88th year. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley (Hunter); daughter Susan Grimes and her husband Geoffrey of Stratford; grandson Joshua Grimes, his wife Jen and their daughter Jada of Vancouver; and granddaughter Meaghan Grimes and her fiancé Judd Attridge of Stratford. Brother of Dr. John B. (Jake) Stothers and his wife Cae of London. Predeceased by his sister Jean and brother-in-law Irwin Carruthers of Goderich. Also remembered by nieces and nephews. Born in Toronto June 7, 1925, Don grew up in London graduating from Western University in 1947. He and Shirley were married in Windsor and had almost 63 wonderful years together. Don enjoyed a long career with Canada Trust in London, St. Catharines, Port Colborne and Stratford, ON and Prince George, BC. For many years he was an active member of Rotary and Probus and in the past volunteered for many charitable organizations. He had many interests ... In the 1940's he played in Neil McKay's Dance Band and his love of music continued throughout his life. His passion for golf and bowling carried on until this past year. Always keen to gain knowledge in many areas he was also very helpful to others. He took great joy in his family life and time with his friends. He will be sadly missed. A celebration gathering will be held at James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, on Wednesday September 26, 2012 from 2pm - 4pm.
