Doris Wilde (Sintzel)

Death Notice

Wilde (Sintzel), Doris - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Doris at the age of 92 on Monday, November 5, 2012 at Strathroy General Hospital. She lived a full, accomplished and honourable life. She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend Henry. She will be missed by a large loving family - daughters Jean (Jim Cunningham), Judy (Bert Seeley), Jennifer (Robin Legg), and many Grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Charles Sintzel (1993) and daughter Jo-Anne Askie. They lovingly raised their children in a warm family atmosphere on "Merrydale Farm" accompanied by treasured animal companions. She will be deeply missed by her extended family and many friends, and son-in-law Paul Askie. Wherever she was, her spirit and positive attitude to life made her unforgettable. Her motto was "Every Day is a lovely day, Every day is a GOOD day". She grew up in London, worked later as an associate at Wendell-Holmes Bookstore, followed with a career of many years at the Weldon Library of UWO. Throughout their marriage, Doris and Henry embarked on a life of travel, art, theatre and enjoyed life to the full. Over the years, her artisitic talents produced many pieces of paper Tole 3-D creations and paintings, which are in the homes of family and friends. As an executive member of the Ladies Retirement Association at UWO, she made many enduring friendships. It was a privilege to have known Doris. She gave her life and funds to charities, friends and family. She was a remarkable lady. A special thank you to the loving care of Strathmere Lodge and Strathroy Hospital. The funeral service will be conducted at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, on Saturday, November 10 at 1:00 pm by Rev. David R. Carrothers.
