Edna French

Death Notice

FRENCH - Edna M. French (nee Lewis), in her 106th year, died peacefully at Extendicare Nursing Home on March 27, 2013. Edna was the widow of Cecil James French and the mother of Lewis French (the late Dawn French). The last of the "Hale Street" Lewis clan, Edna was predeceased by brother Bill Lewis, and sisters Phoebe, Margaret, Florence, Ann and Gwladys Lewis. She also enjoyed the love of her three grandchildren Larissa Mills, Lerrin French, and Lee French. She felt blessed to have three great grandchildren, Ella, Rowan, and Callum Mills. Edna lived in 12 decades and during her life was very involved in her church, particularly Empress United. She was a teacher from 1929-1933 in a one room school and then worked as a library assistant at UWO. A graveside ceremony will be held for Edna at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30 in Woodland Cemetery, 493 Springbank Drive. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Larissa's home following the funeral.
