Jean Garrett

Death Notice

GARRETT, Jean - On May 10, 2013 at Victoria Hospital, Jean Bright Garrett (O'Connor), beloved wife of the late Ross Collins Garrett, passed away peacefully in her 96th year. Predeceased by her parents Janet (Bright) & Edward E. O'Connor, and older sister Lucia Urquhart (Ross, deceased). Loving mother of Jeanette Van Proyen (Howard, deceased), Karen Rendell (George), and Beverly Hughes (Bev). Sadly missed by younger sisters Nancy Smith (Robert T., deceased), Elva Doerr (Leonard, deceased), and Pauline Hewitt (Bob, deceased). Cherished grandmother of Carolynn Hardinger (David), Steven Longlad/Garrett (Linda), Roy Rendell (Kristine), Brent Hughes (Rebecca), Dee-Ann Vickers (Todd), and Don Hughes (Italia Millan); and great-grandmother of Nathaniel, Cameron and Annaliesa Hughes, Mackenzie and Sydney Vickers, and Emma and Evelyn Rendell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jean was an active member of St. George's Public School Home and School Association and the 7th Field Engineers' Wives. She was an active member of New St. James Presbyterian Church for over 65 years, serving many years with the church's Service Group, Glengarry Group and Quilters' Group. At Jean's request, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A memorial visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond.
