Pauline Verdone

Death Notice

Pauline Verdone (nee Sobchuk), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013 in her 95th year. Loving mother of Elana (Bill) Johnston, and proud and loving grandmother of Mike, Jay, Kurt and Mark, all of whom were so dear to her. Pauline was predeceased by her husband Ted Verdone (1977). She was born Nov. 30, 1918 in Montreal and grew up in Iroquois Falls before moving to London in 1944. Pauline was the daughter of Stanislaus Sobchuk and Zofia Daring, and was predeceased by her sister Brona (Leo) Bernier, and brothers Paul (Stella) Sobchuk, Alex (Dolores) Sobchuk, John (Aurore) Sobchuk, and Mike (Helen) Sobchuk. She is survived by sisters Jenny (Jack) Pretsell, Anne (Dennis) Newton, Mary (Bob) Scott, Helen (Dalton) Denault, and Sonia (Louis) Fortier, and by brother Gary (Bonnie) Sobchuk. Pauline was defined by her strong love of family and friends, her generosity, and many years as a successful career woman with an especially soft spot in her heart for children and pets. A private family burial will be followed by a visitation on Saturday Aug. 17, 2013 from 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St London. The family is especially grateful to the angels who work on the first floor of Marian Villa: Alison, Paula, Jen, Leanne, Melody, Stella, Deborah, Heather, Jamal, Kevin, and so many more.
