Monique Bissell (nee Bedard) passed away at Victoria Hospital in London with family members by her side at 7.30 am on Wednesday June 4, 2014. Monique was 67 years of age and is survived by Rick, her loving husband of 48 years and by her son Shawn and daughter-in-law Sarah, sister Johanne (Yves), brothers Mike (Carol), Pierre (Ginette) and Daniel (Helene). Monique is also survived by her mother Felicite Poitras and predeceased by her dad, Jean Bedard, who passed away in 2002. Born in Montreal on July 1, 1947, Monique married Rick in September of 1966, worked at Nortel's International Division in Montreal and later for Bell Canada in London Ontario. Along the way Monique spent almost three years living in Saudi Arabia and seeing a good part of the world with husband Rick and son Shawn. After retiring from Bell Canada in 1996, Monique became a travel agent for RobertQ Travel; a career she enjoyed very much, soon becoming a Disney World and Celebrity Cruises specialist. Monique's love for cruising the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Transatlantic with Rick and friends is supported by her 31 cruises and close to 300 nights spent on the high seas. She also enjoyed spending time with Shawn and Sarah, nephew Scott, and her many nieces, their partners and children who she loved dearly. As per Monique's wishes, cremation has already occurred. A short Visitation and Interment Ceremony will be held at 10.30am on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Chapel at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Drive, London, followed immediately by a "Celebration of Monique's Life"? at "Milos' Craft Beer Emporium"? on Talbot Street in London (across from Bell Canada Building) where food and beverage will be served for all Monique's friends and family. Sincere appreciation is conveyed to all Monique's friends who assisted during this ordeal, including the Von Nurses, Dr. Malik's LHSC Team and especially Floor 9, Building "B" Nurses Sara and Danielle who were so caring and compassionate during Monique's final days and hours. Finally, Monique asked that a very special thank you be extended to Dr. Henry Bendheim who worked diligently to expedite the process and provide "above and beyond"? assistance and support to help both Monique and husband Rick during the entire stressful experience. In lieu of flowers the family would be grateful for a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
