I met Ted when I first started supply teaching in 1986. Some years later I had the pleasure of working with him at H.B. Beal Secondary School and TVDSB Night School. He was an amazing and creative educator - we continued to touch base occasionally as he made the rounds for Nelson Canada and then supporting the next generation of Ontario teachers. He will certainly be missed in the education community. My best wishes and thoughts to his family.

i am truly sorry to here of the passing away of ted. i knew ted threw basketball since my high school days at, Clarke road , since the late 70's. i can say without a doubt that he was the most professional and fairest man i have ever dealt with in the game of basketball.i didn't really know him away from the game but im sure he was just as great as a person off the court.when my mom passed away in 2010 Ted came to the funeral home to offer his condolences to me and my brother's. that was very touching ,and i feel bad that me and my brothers can not attend his visitation as we leave Wednesday on a trip. so my condolences to all Ted's family. he was a special man and will be truly missed.

Ted and I worked together in Math, Science and Technology education at TVDSB and also for the past decade at Western's Faculty of Education. I will miss the serious debates we used to engage in as he always had the interests of student success at the forefront.

I was saddened to hear of Ted's passing. He and I had pretty much the same beliefs about the game of basketball. I remember some enjoyable road trips with him.

Ted and I were TVDSB colleagues and Pine Knot golfing buddies. I have many fond golfing memories as we joked along, teased one another about our games and attempted to solve the world's problems. In whatever he did, he gave his best. He was a good friend. My sincere sympathy to Janet and family.

Through our mutual love of basketball Ted & I became good friends and had many meaningful discussions regarding coaches, players and officials. We always agreed that the love-hate relationship was a major part of the game. Ted was not only a great official but also a well respected and outstanding human being. He will be sadly missed by the basketball community and many others. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family. God Bless. Dave & Georgia Bartolotta (Hamilton).

My Deepest sympathies to the Gibb family on Ted's passing. Ted was like a basketball mentor to me when it came to officiating basketball. He was always offering his feedback to me whether it be good or bad as to how I can become a better official at Basketball. You will be truly missed Ted not only as a well respected basketball official but as a kind/good hearted human being.

My sincere condolences to the Gibb family. I have many fond memories of Ted. He was originally Mr.Gibb, our homeroom teacher at AB Lucas and then "The Gibber" after a few weeks of getting to know us. Later that year he was a ref of one our senior basketball games and I knew then after a few whistles that he was not going to be a pushover just because we would see him in homeroom the next day. He was honest and fair, happy to impart his knowledge and willing to listen. He loved his family and loved helping others. He was a great mentor when I first started to ref basketball and when playing rec ball in London, it was always a relief to know Ted was on the court. You will be missed Ted.

I am sad to learn of the passing of Ted. Our family knew him and his family in the early 60's as his father (Phil) and my father (Jack) taught at the same school and worked in the same office in General Amherst High School. Ted was a bright person and I remember we hired him in 1964 to help build our family house. He still appears in some pics and movies from that time. Our family condolences go out to Ted's family from Rick Metcalfe, Wendy and Dory. Our special thoughts go out to Joey and Jan. "Ted, may your teaching spirit and fairness officiating live on in the hearts of those you touched in your life and career."
