Bill Young

Death Notice

YOUNG, William - Peacefully with family by his side at University Hospital on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, William B. “Bill" Young of London age 81. Beloved husband of the late Janis (1982). Loving father of Debbie Breivik, Jenny Grover (Chris), Bill Young (Carolyn), and Barb Mitchell. Proud Bampa of Rob and Scott, Jessica, Trish and Megan, James, Jeffrey and George, Tyler and Jenna and four great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Robert Young and Jean Waffle. Bill was a well-respected leader in the London business community and as president of Young’s Jewellers, led the company into its 100th year. He served as the past-president of Canadian Jewellers Association and the 24Kt Club of Canada. He was also active in the community as past-president of Rotary Club of London and on the Board of Directors of Western Fair Association. Bill enjoyed and lived his life to the fullest. His family and friends will have many fond memories of Bill, especially at the cottage in Muskoka. A champion athlete, Bill taught many children and adults how to waterski on Lake Rosseau. Bill had a wide range of interests and numerous hobbies including his antique car collection, making models and building boats: the famous Sea Flea, a sailboat and a cedar strip canoe. More than anything else, Bill’s family was the most important part of his life and he took great pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family is grateful for the care and kindness from his friends at the McCormick Home day program and CCAC team. Visitation on Sunday, November 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Private family service at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Rotary Club of London Foundation would be appreciated.
