ASMA, Barbara - Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at University Hospital on Monday, June 8, 2015, Barbara Ann Asma, nee Moriarity of London in her 78th year. Beloved wife for 53 years of Fred. Loving mother of Michael, John (Maura), Kelly (Martin Sommers) all of London and Peter (Leslie) of Ottawa. Beloved grandmother of Thomas, Michael and Molly Asma and Thomas W. Sommers. Dear sister of Mary Jane Van Horne (Ron) of London and the late Dr. Andrew Moriarity, Helen Bethel, and Cassie Smith. Lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1960. She was devoted to her family and was an enthusiastic supporter of all of her grandchildren’s activities. She was also an avid gardener and sports fan. A special thank you to the dedicated and caring staff of the I.C.U. University Hospital. Visitation on Thursday, June 11 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Friends will also be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. preceding the funeral Mass which will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 511 Cheapside St. at Maitland, on Saturday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. Parish prayers in the funeral home on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation would be appreciated.
