Dr. James Ballantyne
Dr. James F. Ballantyne, lived a full life of learning and adventure, with remarkable energy. He said his final farewell on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 surrounded by his lifelong soul mate and wife of 65 years; Marjorie Patricia Ballantyne and their 7 adoring children; Michael, Kelly, Charles, James, Tom, Anna and Gretchen.
Jim was a tireless professional, during his career he was a renowned eye surgeon and a daring pilot, serving as Chief of the Ophthalmology Department, St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Chairman of Ophthalmology for the Ontario Medical Association and President of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons.
An avid outdoorsman, keen for any adventure that involved his family, a rod, a rifle, a boat, a duck and a deck of cards. His true life-long home remained the clear water and rugged granite of Go Home Bay in the treasured company of friends and relatives.
Jim leaves behind 12 devoted grandchildren; Charley, Michelle, Brittani, Kati, Sarah, James, Carly, Ali, Jacquie, Maddie, Annie and Chloe, who will carry with them personal memories of time spent with Boppa sharing his passion for life.
A private family service will be held in London followed at a later date by a celebration of life to take place in Go Home Bay.
Thank you to the Victoria Order of Nurses who cared for Jim in his final days.
