Patricia Delaney

Death Notice

DELANEY, Patricia - Peacefully at University Hospital with family by her side on Friday, August 7, 2015, Patricia Ann Rose Delaney, nee Thompson of London in her 78th year. Beloved wife of the late Richard ‘Dick’ Delaney (1995). Loving mother of Chris Delaney and his wife Jennifer Swan, Lesley Geleynse and her husband Ian all of London, and the late Scott Delaney (2008). Dear 'Grandma Pat' of Hannah, Willem, and Adelaide. Sister of the late Evelyn Ross and Douglas ‘Bud’ Thompson. Also fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Pat was a lifelong resident of London. She proudly attended Beck and Central Secondary Schools.

An avid singer and Opera aficionado, she lent her soaring soprano voice to many memorable London choirs including the Earle Terry Singers. Pat was also a choir soloist for many years at New St. James Presbyterian Church.

Pat worked for many years at Dominion Stores as a Head Cashier. The family fondly recalls many evening trips to Ritchie’s for foot-long hot dogs at the end of a shift. In the 1980s, she and Dick became entrepreneurs when they operated their own seafood store, “The Newfie Fish Market" on Hamilton Road. Following this period, she worked in the cash office at the London Free Press for over twenty years to her retirement where she found great friendship and camaraderie.

Visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 12 at 11 am. Cremation with private interment at a later date at Woodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the London Humane Society or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
