Smith, Michael T. - Michael T. Smith, beloved son of Terry and Jo-Anne, wonderful big brother to Rob and fiancée Christine, died on Friday, August 14, 2015, at age 39. Michael had family and close friends with him at the end to offer comfort and love. Life was an adventure, a treasure, undiscovered territory for Mike and he enjoyed it to the fullest. Whether he was soldiering, being a paramedic/firefighter, cycling, painting, snapping photos-Michael embraced it all. He will be remembered forever by his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. RIP Sapper Smith.
Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held in the future. Donations and/or volunteer help to soldieron.ca, a PTSD support group, can be made in Michael's memory.

Dear Terry, Jo-Anne, and Rob,
I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Mike's passing. We started out as sworn enemies in grade 5, but as we got older, we became great friends. Although life got in the way and we hadn't been in touch too often lately, I thought of Mike often and always fondly. I have lots of wonderful memories of him over the years and will never forget all the good times we shared, whether it was our trip to France in grade 11 or just hanging out in the backyard talking. He was a great guy with a heart of gold and I am so glad to have had the pleasure of knowing him.
Please accept my deepest sympathy,

Dear Terry and JoAnn I am so sorry to here about Michael. I feel someone has ripped my stomach out of me I will always remember him as the little boy I would pickup and take down to the racetrack to see the horses that my friends mother owned, he would feed and pet them, then Ron the trainer would take him around the track on the sulky with the horse in front. Any parent would have been proud to call him son. He was well mannered always said please and thank you and had to call me Mr.Molloy when you were around. I told him it was ok to call me Mike when it was just the 2 of us. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

Terry and Jo, I am soooo sorry for your loss. I only knew Michael for a short time as a little boy. No parent should have to loose a child. Sending you and your family lots of hugs from Vancouver Island.

I remember a whip smart, kind, against convention man who was one of the coolest and most worldly men I had the privilege of growing up near. My proper condolences to your family and this is beyond hard in so many ways, but you raised one amazing man.
