Nora (“Nonie”) Alicia Jeffery
Nora (“Nonie") Alicia Jeffery
August 20, 1921 - October 16, 2015
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Nora, fondly known as Nonie on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Woodstock, Ontario on August 20, 1921, daughter of Reverend Edwin John Morris, of County Leitrim, Ireland and Annie Selina Ethel Limin of Durham, Ontario. Devoted wife of her late husband, Joseph Jeffery. Proud mother of Joseph, John (Victoria), Alicia (Neil Foster), Jennifer (Pierre Szersnovicz) and Deb (Michael Sehl). Cherished Nana of Sam, Sarah, Jake, Simon, Virginia, Anne-Alicia, Charles, Paul, Ben, Jeff, John and Emily and delighted Great Grandmother of Elisabeth.
Loved and admired by her family and many friends, as a woman of grace, with a good sense of humour and seemingly limitless compassion and generosity, involved for many years with The Grand Theatre, Women’s Christian Association, and the Trident Investment Club. She was a lifetime fitness buff, walking and swimming into her 90’s. Some of her fondest times were shared with family at their Tobermory cottage, and attending theatre with close friends.
Visitation on Tuesday from 7-9 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London. The Funeral Service will be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 280 St. James St. at Wellington, London on Wednesday, October 21 at 1 pm. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow at London Hunt and Country Club.
Deepest thanks to the caring staff at Medical Priorities (London), Bradgate Arms (Toronto) and The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care (Mount Sinai Hospital).
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Grand Theatre, Women’s Christian Association or The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care would be greatly appreciated by the family.
