Death Notice

Land, Hu (Hubert Ferguson) - August 25, 1922 - November 17, 2015. Unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at his home in London. Beloved father of Peter (Gayle) of Stratford and Pamela of Calgary. Predeceased by his loving wife Elaine (1984), his parents Mayme and Claude, and brother Wayne. He will be lovingly missed by his cherished grandchildren Hilary, Allison and Adam, his sister-in-law Lillian, and many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. He had a special bond with his son-in-law Chris that will always be remembered. After serving in World War II, Hu returned to London to marry Elaine and raise his family. He was a dedicated and respected employee at Kellogg’s where he took great pride in ensuring the quality of the products met his high standards. Following his retirement in 1985, Hu enjoyed golfing and playing bridge at Sunningdale Golf and Country Club, joining his Saturday Breakfast Club at the Family Circle Restaurant and meeting friends for dinner at his favourite local restaurants. He was a passionate fan of the New York Yankees and the great Gordie Howe. He always looked forward to seeing his friends for a bite to eat, a game of cards, or a chat. Hu will be fondly remembered for his kind heart, big smile, gentle soul, quick wit, and compassion for others. The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Liabotis and her staff for their long-term care of Hu, and the professional and gracious care he received from the staff at Amica at London.
