WINDER, Jennifer - Jennifer died peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2015 in the presence of family at Victoria Hospital, London. Predeceased by parents Maude and John Winder and brother Steven. She will be greatly missed by her sisters Sue (Ian), Christy (Tim), Barb (Norm), and Michelle (Michael) and their families. An athlete and musician in her high school years, Jen was stricken with a spinal tumour at the age of 16. Radical experimental surgery and radiation therapy saved her life but changed her physical state. Developing her skills as an artist, she became a recognized painter. A valiant fighter, Jen battled to stay independent, and lived at Cheshire Homes in her own apartment for 30 years with family, friends and professional support. In the last week when she knew she was dying, her first words were "I would like to have a party". The steady stream of friends and relatives to her hospital room showed her that she was well loved and will be deeply missed. The family would like to acknowledge the care and support given by the staff at Cheshire house, Dearness Home, Home Instead and London Health Sciences Centre - Victoria Hospital Respiratory unit with special thanks to Dr. J. Jackson. A memorial service will be held in the spring. In her memory celebrate her fierce spirit and courage. Donations could be directed to a charity of your choice or LHSC Foundation - Victoria Hospital.
