Mary Louise Bechely

Death Notice

BECHELY, Mary Louise - Peacefully at Arbor Trace, London, Ontario on Monday, February 29, 2016, Mary Louise Bechely of London age 82. Beloved wife of the late Dick Hartley (2005). Daughter of the late Ted and Dorothy (Kennedy) Bechely. Sister of the late Elizabeth Ann Sells, Margaret Bernice Moore and Rev. Frederick Bechely. Dear Aunt of Kathleen Moore, Michael Moore, John Sells, and James Seltz. She will be fondly remembered by her friends and former colleagues at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Mary Louise was an intelligent and artistic woman. She began her career in 1957 as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. In 1970 she was certified as a Nuclear Medicine Technician and was the first Manager of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Recognized as an expert in her field, she served Nationally as a Nuclear Medicine advisor, educator, writer and committee chair. In her spare time, she enjoyed antiquing and was an avid thespian.

A memorial service will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, on Wednesday, March 9 at 1 pm, with visitation preceding on Wednesday from 12 noon to 1 pm. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Cremation followed by interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery, St. Thomas. Memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation would be appreciated.
