PARKINSON, Ruth St. Leger (Hunter) - April 26, 1934 - May 24, 2016, Ruth passed away at the University Hospital in London after a short illness. She was 82. She will be greatly missed by Bill, her devoted husband of 45 years. Ruth’s parents, Maj. Gen. Kenneth Hunter and Mrs. Lorna Hunter of London ON, predeceased her. Her only sibling, Dr. Michael Hunter of Calgary survives her. He, his wife Mary Jane, their three children (Lisa, Rob and Bill) and Ruth’s nine great-nieces and great-nephews all mourn her loss. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Debbie Cousens (Dave) of Calgary and will be missed by her sister-in-law Marilyn I. Parkinson of Windsor and first cousin Earl I. Hunter of London. Her early education took place in London, Toronto (Havergal College) and Ottawa. She then returned to London to the University of Western Ontario, graduating in 1956. Ruth taught in secondary schools first in Brampton and then in London for many years. She and Bill were married in 1971 and together built a life centered on their love of animals, a “rural" lifestyle and the game of golf. For many years she took full advantage of the golf and bridge activities at the London Hunt and Country Club. Many of the members will miss her. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
