DICKEY, Linda Dianne (nee TOZEK)
April 30, 1951 - August 6, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we share the loss of our mother - Linda Dickey. After a brief but courageous battle with cancer, God peacefully took Linda home on August 6, 2016. Linda was a registered practical nurse who started working at Victoria Hospital in 1971. After the birth of her third child, Linda left nursing to take a clerical position in patient registration so that she could be home to raise her young family. She later moved to mental health where she remained until her retirement in August 2015. Throughout her career, Linda was known for her sense of humor (“sweet cheeks"), kindness and thoughtfulness. She would be the first to send a card or bake a cake to celebrate any of life’s occasions, or shed a tear and give a hug for any of life’s sorrows. She was an empathetic care provider and a strong advocate for mental health and for those in need. Linda was a loving and devoted mother to her three children. Her daughters Nicole Farrell (Frank) and Michelle Becker (Chris) and her son, the late Patrick Farrell (2009) cherished her. She was a beloved sister to Michael, David, Deb, Barb, Sandy, Kathy, Theresa, Robert and Nick; and proud aunt/great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Her father William Tozek (1992), mother Marie Tozek (2010), brother William Tozek (2012) and sister Joanne Hedges (2014) preceded Linda. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Megyesi, Pat Doyle-Pettypiece, Dr. David Palma, Dr. Michael Sanatani and Dr. Rachel Bevan, in addition to many other doctors and nurses who cared for Linda in these final months.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 11 from 7-9 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, where a Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, August 12 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Brain Tumour Foundation, the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at Western University, or the Department of Oncology at Western University would be gratefully acknowledged.

I will always think of Linda fondly. She made the day shifts I worked with her so much fun, and always left me laughing. I know she were not my grandma, but she always chuckled and laughed when I called her gramma. In my heart she was always my gramma and always will be. Rest in Peace.
