Dempsey, Lillian (formerly Watson), nee Unrau on February 6th 2017. Lil passed away peacefully following a long but admirable fight against cancer, surrounded with the love of family and friends at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Loving mother of daughters Donna Watson (Dan Van Lieshout) of London, Karen Dempsey of Goderich, son Daryl Watson of Vancouver, BC and step-children Chuck Dempsey and Tracy Dempsey-Reid (Herm) of Seaforth.
What brought the most joy to Lil was the memories she shared with her grandchildren: Spencer Dempsey, Laura and Emma Van Lieshout, Alana and Hailey Ward, Travis and Kelsey Dempsey and Makaila Dempsey-McDonald.
Survived by brothers Jim Unrau (Sherilyn) of Dawson Creek BC, Orville Unrau (Anita) of Rock Creek BC and Lyle Unrau (Janet) of Vancouver BC, sister-in-law Betty Wilcox and brother-in-law Jamie Watson (Leslie). Predeceased by husband Harry Watson (1976), parents Cornelius Unrau (1952) and Elisabeth Munroe (1996), brothers Edwin Unrau (1996), Leonard Unrau (2008) and sister Tena Fischer (2015).
Lil worked as an insurance underwriter and retired from Economical Insurance. She was blessed to have a large circle of friends, many whom started out as colleagues and neighbours, but quickly became like family and supported her throughout her journey.
Visitation will take place Friday February 10 from 7-9 pm at the Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street (at Richmond) London. A Memorial Service will be held at the same location this Spring, on Saturday May 13 at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception. The family will welcome family and friends from 12:30 before the service.
Contributions to St. Joseph’s Hospice or The Canadian Cancer Society in Lil’s memory would be appreciated.
