Service

The funeral service will be conducted at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1 Frank Place at Wellington, London, on Tuesday, February 28 at 11 am. Reception to follow.

Death Notice

NUMMELA, Frans (Mikko) - Peacefully at University Hospital on Friday, February 24, 2017, Frans Mikael Nummela of London and formerly of Toronto in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Eila Annikki Nummela (2016). Loving father of Karen and her husband James Fisher. Dear Pappa of Jennifer, Gillian (Jeffery) and Natalie. Great-grandfather of Madelyn and Michael. Dear brother of Liisa Salminen, Aune Bogel, Aarne Nummela (Ulla), Timo Nummela (Annikki), Milja Nummela (Juha) and the late Lauri and Veijo Nummela. Brother-in-law of Taina Nummela.
Mikko enjoyed the cottage and fishing on Georgian Bay. He was active in the Finnish Community in Toronto, especially at Agricola Lutheran Church. He was also a long time member of the Finnish Men’s Choir. Most of all, he was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Special thanks to all of the staff on 7th floor, University Hospital, and Shirley Woodfield, PSW for her compassion and dedicated care.
