Despite his hectic professional life as an academic and physician, he always had time to ‘slow down and smell the roses’. As the new Director of the Canadian Centre for Activity and Aging, I had called-upon Peter for his advice related to a serious issue facing the Centre. Peter listened intently as I described the situation. This was a complicated matter, but Peter patiently listened to what I had to say. When I was finished, I looked across the desk asking him what should I do? He paused, and then responded with “Today is Maundy Thursday and I celebrate by getting Lili a lovely gift, you should do the same for your beautiful wife”. This was Peter’s way of telling me not to sweat the big problems of the world, or the Centre, but focus on what is important in life. Peter’s impact on all of us stretches far beyond his medical and academic accomplishments. He walked the talk – living life to its fullest capacity, enjoying every minute. Although Jennifer and I are saddened for your loss, we also celebrate Peter’s influence on our lives. Thank you Lili and family for sharing Peter with us.
