Aileen Tyrrell Jones, peacefully at Chelsey Park Nursing Home on Sunday, May 6, 2007 in her 87th year. Beloved companion to Robert Edy. Dear mother of the late Mardi Douglas (2000) and Michael Douglas and his wife Deanna. Lovingly remembered as Nanny to Jennifer (David), Vicki (J.T.), Roddy and Jamie (Tamara). Great grandmother to Jessi, Malin and Dane. Predeceased by her husbands Alan St. Clair Douglas and Frederick William Pryce Jones. Before starting her family, Aileen trained as a dietician at the University of Western Ontario and taught Family Science at Clarke Road Secondary School. Throughout her life Aileen generously helped where she was needed, notably as a member of the May Court Club of London and Board of Directors at Parkwood Hospital. Youthful summers spent in Algonquin Park inspired a lasting love of the Canadian wilderness, canoeing and fishing. A generous and lively hostess, her passion for life was shared with her family and her many close friends. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond Street at Queens Avenue on Friday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation with interment in Woodland Cemetery, London.
