Death Notice

Betty Thelma Kydd, nee Sturdy, suddenly but peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, November 20, 2007, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late William Benjamin Kydd (1992). Loving mother of William Kydd and his wife Fay and Cindy Kirshin and her husband Michael, all of London. Dear grandmother of Charlene Pickering and her husband Kim, Melissa Somerton and her husband John, Sarah Kirshin, and Michael Kirshin. Great-grandmother of Angelina and Shawna Pickering and William and Cole Somerton. Sister of Gord Sturdy and his wife Jean, the late Ross and Mary Sturdy, and Jack Sturdy. Dear sister-in-law of Vivian and John Alliban, Sylvia and Don Claydon, and Eileen Sturdy. Aunt of Barbara Girdler (Vic), Linda Norwood (Karl) and James Sturdy, and many great-nieces and nephews. Betty was the founder with her husband of Kydd Radiator (1946) and has remained active in the business with her son Bill. She also opened La Jolie Jupe Ltd. (1967) with her daughter Cindy. Until the day she died, Betty worked in both businesses. Betty was a member of the North London Rotary Club and was honored by Rotary International as a Paul Harris Fellow. She will be fondly remembered by all her friends and relatives as a most generous, compassionate and caring person. She was the matriarch of her family and the guiding force for the many successes of her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be forever in our hearts. Friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, where the funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. Entombment St. Peter's Mausoleum. Memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association or the London Regional Cancer Program would be gratefully acknowledged.
