Patricia Gorlick

Death Notice

With her family by her side, Patricia Jean Gorlick passed away on 7 August 2008 at Mount Hope/ LHSC in London, Ontario. Born in Windsor, England, the daughter of Royal Horse Guards officer Francis Louis Holder and Minnie Frances (Burke) Holder of the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corp, WWI and II. Dearly beloved mother and confidant of Carolyne and Susan, agreeable ally (mother-in-law) of Alan Pomfret, cherished Nana of Allison (Philip) Ferguson, Gregory Trowse and Ken (Shannon) Hepburn and great grandmother of Nicholas, Paeden and Wendy. Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Carl Andrew Hall Gorlick (New Brunswick); sister, Joan Vidler; and brother, Frank Holder (both of England). Fondly remembered by brother-in-law Lawrence (Ruth) Gorlick of New Brunswick, several nephews and nieces in Canada and UK, relatives and friends. Patricia was a nurse alongside her mother during the Second World War and married her forever loved Carl, a Canadian army officer, at her father's regimental church in Windsor, England. In 1946, Patricia came to Canada and began her family and like so many war brides contributed and took pride in this country while maintaining and cherishing her links and memories of England. Patricia traveled to Russia, China, Asia and many trips to the UK, Europe, United States and throughout Canada. There was always yet another travel adventure in the offing. Her interpretation of grandparenting was a supporting presence on the edge of a football field or horse show (in the rain, snow and sometimes sun) or some other grandchild venture. Her devotion to her family, love of political discussions, passion for books and flowers, thoughtful guidance, and her sense of humour will remain in our memory. A private family funeral will be held at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, London, Ontario. Interment in Windsor, England will occur at a later date. Arrangements in care of James A. Harris Funeral Home. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be sent to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the following website: http:://
