Death Notice

Patterson, Floyd W. - of London, formerly of Glencoe, died peacefully in his 83rd year at University Hospital with family by his side, on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008. Survived by his family, Ellen (Mackenzie) Patterson, beloved wife of 58 years, sons, Kirk (Barbara), Robert (Regina), Charles (Caroline), all of London, daughters Marlene (Bruce Hiebert) of Abbotsford, BC and Mary Ellen (Martin Ferguson) of Calgary, AB. Proud grandfather of Melissa, Katherine, Grant, Jairus, Taylor, Gregory, Daniel, Emily, Sydney, and Hillary. Survived also by brother Murray (Eunice) of Sault Saint Marie and Ellen's brothers Ken (Gladys) MacKenzie, Sault Ste. Marie, and Roy Mackenzie, Thessalon. Survived also by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his parents Neil and Grace (Willis) Patterson, brothers Cliff and Archie, sister Mabel. Floyd was born in Espanola on September 12, 1926, and grew up in rural Plummer. During his 42 year career as an educator, he taught in the communities of Plummer, Ophir, Cockburn Island, Holtyre, and Levack. In 1965 he became the first Principal of Aldborough Public School, Rodney and retired in 1987 as Principal of West Elgin Sr. Public, West Lorne. Friends may call on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, London where the funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 20 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London.
