Erika McCormick

Death Notice

McCormick, Erika - Peacefully at Queens Village Retirement Home on Friday, February 27, 2009, Erika Hildegard McCormick, nee Rink, passed away in her 93rd year. Born in Leipzig, Germany, she was the beloved wife of the late Fred McCormick (1996). Dear friend and business partner of Tim Humphrey of McCormick's Hobby Centre, she will be sadly missed by Ann Humphrey, Sarah, Rachel, Vicki Dunn, and Ken McAuslan. Fondly remembered by friends and business associates in the area. Erika was a very kind, gentle person who loved everyone and always saw the good side of them and life in general. She helped the poor, homeless and others in need without any questions asked. She loved to be in her garden planting flowers and watching and feeding the birds. Until her 80's, Erika ran the hobby shop. People remember the good old days of getting your purchase at McCormick's Hobby wrapped in brown paper, tied with a string, and presented with it a big, kind smile. Friends will be received on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, March 3 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Richard Hryniw. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Cremation with interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
