Isobel Skinner

Death Notice

Skinner, Isobel Morton, nee Holmes - Peacefully at Chelsey Park Nursing Home on Saturday, June 6, 2009 in her 97th year with her family Nancy, Ann and Richard by her side. Pre-deceased by her parents, Helen Morton (1977) and Wendell Holmes (1956) and her husband Alan Woodley Skinner (1945), her sister Helen Riddle (1982), her brother John (1988), and her twin sister Elizabeth Beer (1999). Isobel will be greatly missed by her loving and loved daughters Nancy (London) and Ann (Stratford), welcomed son Richard Yake (London), nephews Charles Beer (Mary Anna) of Newmarket, David Beer (Helena) of Mozambique, James Beer (Agathe) of St. Laurent, Quebec, Rob Riddle (Gerry) of Kamloops, British Columbia, niece Jan Woytasik (Al) of Hamilton and several great nieces and great nephews. For many years, she managed the Wendell Holmes Bookshop at Oakridge Mall. She fulfilled her music interests singing with the Gordon Jeffrey's singers and massed choirs. She loved theatre and good books. Isobel showed us how to survive adversity and move forward in life. Nancy, Ann and Richard convey heart-felt thanks to the Staff at Chelsey Park and especially Brenda Daley for their loving and compassionate care of our "mum" Isobel. Friends may call on Monday from 7-9 pm at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9 at 11 am by Rev. David R. Carrothers. Interment Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
