Death Notice

Chess, Gordon F. - peacefully at his residence in London on Friday, October 9, 2009 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Catherine Adams (Leland) of Mississauga, David and Judy Chess of London and the late Laurie Chess-Coumans. Father-in-law of Peter Coumans and his wife Louise of London. Dear grandfather of Amanda and Evan Adams, Andrew and Brendan Chess, Jason, Steven and Mark Coumans. Brother of Charlotte Gerdes, Violet Priddle, Jim Chess, Peter Chess, Susan Forgeron and the late Alex Chess, Fred Chess and Marg Slade. He will be fondly remembered many nieces and nephews, and by close family friends Fah Chap and Barabara Choo. Gordon served with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during WWII. He earned degrees from University of Toronto (B.Sc.), McGill (M.Eng) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (PhD Engineering) and was Past Dean of Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. Gordon was an active member and Rector's Warden at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Arva. Private family service at St. John's Anglican Church, Arva.
