Death Notice

Hamilton, Margaret - peacefully at Marian Villa on Saturday, April 24, 2010, Margaret Goldie (McQueen) Hamilton of London in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Roy Spence Hamilton (1998). Loving mother of Anne and Robert Booth, Laurel and Tom Bates, Susan and Ted Slomer, John and Linda Hamilton, Beverly and Gavin Matthews, and the late Spence Hamilton (1951). Dear grandmother of Bobby, Laura and Elyse Booth, Michelle Bates and Jessie Regts and Spence Bates, Matthew and Lindsay Slomer, and Adam Slomer and Sarah and Elinor Matthews. Proud great-grandmother of Arabella Regts. Sister of Beverly (McQueen) Colwell of Kingston. She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews. Margaret was a life-long member of First-St. Andrew's United Church and active in the U.C.W. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1941 and continued as a member of the Alumni and Senior Alumni Association. She taught at Sir Adam Beck for 3 years. Marg was active in the I.O.D.E. and St. George's Parent Home and School Association. She was on the steering committee that developed and maintained a community church in Sauble Beach Ontario, where she had her summer cottage. Margaret was a supportive and active member of many church, school and community associations. Friends may call on Monday April 26 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, April 27 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in First-St. Andrew's United Church, 350 Queens Ave. at Waterloo St., where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Dr. Susan Shelstad. Cremation with interment at a later date. Memorial contributions to the Kidney Foundation, First-St. Andrew's United Church or the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged.
