Shumack, William Leslie - peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Les Shumack of London, at the age of 104. He had been residing at Chateau Gardens for the past 2 1/2 years and had previously lived at Masonville Manor in London. Mr. Shumack was born in Cardiff, Wales on May 22, 1906. He came to Canada in 1929 and as a young man settled in Ontario. In later years he and his wife Helen operated a very successful, eclectic general store in the Muskoka area of Port Sydney. His passion was playing an excellent game of bridge with good friends. He was a gracious, generous man. Along with his parents and brothers, he is predeceased by his first wife Helen and second wife Adrienne (Winkler). Mr. Shumack is survived by his dear daughter Shirley Pate (Jack Kelly) of Hamilton, three granddaughters, a nephew John Shumack and family of England and a niece Hilary Shumack and family of Wales. He is dearly remembered by his beloved friend Vel Campion and the Campion family. He will be fondly remembered by the Winkler and Ford families. Friends may call during the hour preceding the funeral service which will be conducted at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, London on Friday, June 25 at 11:00 am by Rev. Robert C. Ripley. Interment will follow in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford. Memorial contributions to the charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged.
