Macdonald, J.C. Alan - on Monday, June 28, 2010, Alan Macdonald, in his 83rd year, celebrated the first day of his Eternal Life. He is the beloved husband of Jean (Leatherdale) Macdonald. Much loved father and grandfather of Jane and Don Shirley, Adam and Ashley and their son Malachi, Evan and David of Strathroy; Joan and Ian Gibson, Sandy and Jane of Ottawa; Karen and Herm Van Ryn, Jacob and Luke of London; Ian and Dorothy Macdonald, Patrick and Abbey of London. Alan is the son of the late Atwood and Marjorie (Little) Macdonald of Ridgetown. Predeceased by his siblings Ruth Gibb, Marion Macdonald and Ross Macdonald. He is survived by sister-in-law Beth Goldhawk, Ridgetown and his brother-in-law Coyne Leatherdale and Lorraine Chambers of Jarvis and his dear nieces and nephews. Alan enjoyed London Life for over 35 years, his church home New St. James Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, Middlesex Kiwanis Club and the Tuscan Lodge 195. Our heartfelt thank you for the compassionate loving care for Al by the second floor and administrative staff at Extendicare. Friends will be welcomed at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James at Richmond, on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The celebration of Al's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1 at New St. James Presbyterian Church, 280 Oxford St. E. at Wellington. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. For those who wish, a memorial gift to the Parkinson Society, 117-4500 Blakie Rd., London, ON N6L 1G5 or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
