John King

Death Notice

King, John - Surrounded by his adoring family on Sunday, July 11, 2010, John Thomas King of London, in his 72nd year. Cherished, loving husband and best friend of Gwyneth King (nee Humphreys). Devoted and dearly loved father of David, Steven and his wife Sandra. Proud Papa to Colwyn, Deven, Elyse and Dylan. John is also survived by his only brother Jim King and his wife Jeanne of Thorndale, Ontario. Beloved son-in-law of Ethel and the late Alwyn Humphreys. John was born November 19, 1938 in Stratford Ontario, son of the late Howard and Jean King. John was a dedicated teacher in the Thames Valley District School Board for many years, enriching the lives of hundreds of children at Wortley Road, Victoria, Cartier and Mountsfield Public Schools. With Gwyneth at his side, John spent his retirement joyously traveling the globe and visiting destinations most people only dream of. Finding nothing but good words to say about everyone, John truly enjoyed the company of family and friends. He loved the simple pleasures in life, had a great sense of humour and always made people smile. John will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his many friends and relatives. We are so grateful for everything John gave to us. His unconditional love and encouragement, the examples he set, the words of wisdom he gave. He was truly our hero. We love him and will miss him forever. Although we wish with all of our hearts that he could have stayed, we are very thankful to have known him at all. We wish to thank the staff in the Oncology department at Victoria Hospital for their kindness and support during John's illness. Friends will be welcomed at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James at Richmond, on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A celebration of John's life will be held at Harris Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15th at 11 am.
