Kennedy, John Elcoat - Mr. John Kennedy, an easily recognized figure for many decades in London's downtown core, died Tuesday September 21 at University Hospital, age 81. Most who recognize him probably never knew his name. Originally from Glasgow, Scotland, John worked as an accountant and enjoyed reading about great statesmen, Churchill in particular. He has no family. During the last year he was well cared for in Parkwood and University Hospitals, and Margo Collver of the Victorian Order of Nurses was a great help to him. John also had a few friends at the Cherry Hill apartments where he lived this past year. He serves as a reminder that we need to look out for those in our community who have no one and are in need. He will be fondly remembered by Jill Ball and Paul Woodford. A graveside service will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 303 Riverside Drive, on Saturday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m.
