Death Notice

Gilbert, Marjorie Mildred (Young) Peacefully passed away, at McCormick Home, London, Ontario on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 in her 98th year. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Whittaker Gilbert (1976). Dearly loved mother of Marjorie Anne (Gerry) Sutherland, and Rosalee (Florian) Kuchynski, both of London, Ontario. Loving Grandmother of Kerri Sutherland (Steve Davidson), Kelly Nuckowski (Dean), Ian Sutherland (Jennifer) and Leanne Kuchynski. Great-Grandmother of Callum Sutherland-Rollings; Cameron and Spencer Nuckowski; Kayla, Garrett and William Sutherland. Marjorie was also a caring Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Marjorie was born on April 5, 1913, at the family farm in South Yarmouth, Elgin County the youngest of thirteen children of Eliza Anne Bogart and James Wadie Young of St. Thomas and formerly of Scotland. Predeceased by brothers John, Elmer, Vern, Gowan, Reginald, Harvey, Cliff, Clarence and sisters Gertie, Elva, Jessie, Cora and close friend John (Eddie) Lindsay. A dedicated member of New St. James Presbyterian Church, involved with Women's Missionary Society and fraternal organizations as Past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and International Order of Job's Daughters. Marjorie was also an avid volunteer with Meals on Wheels. The family wishes to thank the caring and supportive staff at McCormick Home. Visitation on Tuesday March 8th, 2-4pm and 7-9 pm at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London, Ontario where the funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday March 9th, at 11 am, by her nephew, the Reverend Neil Orchard. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery 303 Riverside Drive, following the reception.
